Scam artists make it appear as if they look for jobs for people who can’t find jobs. They establish offices that are well set up sometimes and sometimes just office space to make the cover look legit. They set up social profiles and buy followers so as to make it seem as if they are recommended and have many following in regards to what they do.
They advertise that they look for jobs for those that are finding it hard to get jobs. Well, this situation is common and prevalent in underdeveloped countries and countries with low employment rates. Thus, they are likely to get many engagements. Their bases if you ask them how they look for jobs for you is that they have connections and they have been doing it for long. They can actually give you people to ask as referrals on if what they do is legit.
Rather than they contacting you, you are the one who is most likely to contact them. They tell you that you have to pay a fee so that they find you a job, they also ask for copies of your certificates as well as CV so that they can use that for job seeking. This information once you provide can be used against you in identity theft.
After you provide them with the fee, as well as documents, they can vanish, or they can keep their offices and communication whilst scamming other people. When you ask on progress in them finding a job for you, they just inform you that they are looking, and it goes on and on until you just forget about it. They do not return your money back, since they will tell you that they incur costs and the money you paid is covering the costs of them looking for you.
In some instances, the scammers partner with different HR officers from different companies. They make you get called for interviews even though you will already be on the dark list of people who won’t be accepted. This makes it seem like your fault when you fail the interview, and you can pay them again to look for jobs for you again and again. You continue failing and paying them and they keep on benefiting from you.
Other than the scam whereby you pay agents who pretend to look for jobs for you when they just want money or to steal your personal information. There is the prevalent case whereby you pay people who are insiders within organizations that tell you that they can look for jobs for you. When you pay these people the money they ask for, you don’t get what they promised and there is nothing you can do about it since corruption is a criminal act.
This is mostly common in professions whereby there is high demand of people such as teaching or nursing. Many people pay and end up being victims as they will be thinking that they will benefit from paying to get the job.
